Nelson's wife, Hannah (Ramsey) Austin, who died October 8, 1872 and is buried in Hickory Grove. The family put up tombstones intending her husband and children would be buried with her someday. But, Hannah's husband and living children left Indiana and appear to be buried out-of-state.
Nelson Austin died March 12, 1889 in Phillips County, Colorado and is buried in Holyoke Memorial Park in Holyoke, Colorado (along with his daughter, Georgia K. who was Georgia Katherine "Kittie" Austin Johnson). their two daughters, Jennie May and Minnie B. (Minnie Bell) are also NOT buried in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Kittie is buried in Holyoke, Colorado with their father, & Jennie died in California and Minnie Bell is buried with her husband in Haughton, Louisiana.
Todays family suspects they engraved the names of Hannah's husband and children, assuming someday they would all be buried with their wife and mother, but her husband remarried and took the children west.
