A Terrible Death
Child of Chas. Christofferson Burned Saturday Died of Injuries
The frightful scalding Saturday of Agnes Pearl, the two and a half year old daughter of Chas L. Christofferson, 121 Chestnut street, which was described exclusively in the Reporter, resulted in the child’s death at 9:15 o’clock Saturday evening.
The accident was most terrible, yet pitiful, as the child was on its way to its mother when it took the horrible plunge into the boiling water preparatory to scrubbing. The children were in bed, but little Agnes came out in her night clothes to see her mother. She was backing about the kitchen, her little bare feet making no noise, and the mother was unaware of the little one’s presence until startled by cries of agony. The child had backed against the pail and sat down in the scalding water….
The funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o’clock tomorrow, conducted by Rev. C.G. Purmort. The interment will be at Fairview cemetery.
