Elsie Margareta (Adolphson) Pipe

Born in Seattle, Washington on June 8, 1915 to Felix and Brita (Turnquist) Adolfson. They first moved to Kitsap County when Elsie was a child then to Pierce County the Gig Harbor area. Then Elsie attended elementary School and graduated from Gig Harbor Union High School in 1932. She continued her education, graduating from Central Washington University (then a teachers college) and Washington State University for additional accreditation to qualify for a Lifetime Teaching Certificate. She taught elementary school in the Rosedale (Gig Harbor) area, Chehalis and a number of years as a substitute in the Seattle Public Schools. Elsie’s home has been in Seattle since 1945, mainly in the Magnolia area.

Elsie enjoyed playing golf and gardening. Traveling extensively here and abroad with her late husband, Bernard J. Pipe, M.D. They shared the enjoyment of mountain trail hiking together. After the death of Dr. Pipe Elsie had the opportunity to enjoy further travel with her beloved brother and sister-in-law Roland and Irene Adolphson to many unusual places in the world. Elsie’s interests were involved in the volunteer field with membership in Seattle Milk Fund, Magnolia United Church of Christ, Carleton Park Garden Club, Washington Athletic Club, Seattle Golf Club and Daughters of the Nile: Hatasu Temple.

Elsie was proceded in death by her parents, brother, sister-in-law and husbands George W. Frady 1971, J. Edmund Messett 1981, Bernard J. Pipe, M.D. 1995.

She is survived by her nephews Tim (Kristi) and Jeff Adolphson along with many other family and friends that will miss her deeply.

Remembrances may be made in Elsie’s name to Milk Fund, Medic One, Horizon House Resident Fund or the charity of your choice.

There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, September 3rd, at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington at 11:00 AM.
