Wilma A. LUNGO

LUNGO, Wilma A. Our beloved mom, grandma, and great grandmother passed away peacefully August 25, 2014. Wilma was born at her grandmother's house at Eloika Lake to Will and Alberta (Gray) Burch a long time ago (don't ever ask a lady her age!). She was an outstanding student-athlete, including three years as basketball captain and named to the prestigious "Who's Who of American Teenagers" her senior year. Wilma spent her lifetime in the Chattaroy area after she and her soul mate Alex Lungo graduated from Riverside High School. After marriage they farmed on Orchard Bluff and Alex worked at local sawmills and drove Riverside School bus to "support the farm". They loved the Riverside Schools where Alex served 16 years on the school board and Wilma was active in the PTA and fund-raising as all three of their sons graduated from there also. Alex and Wilma were lifetime officers at the Valley Prairie Grange where they organized and supervised the monthly grange hall dances and weekly pinochle parties, prior to Alex's too early death in 1987. She is survived by their three sons, Douglas and daughters Megan and Erin (Chris), Allen (Pam) with son Christopher (Lauren), Rick (Carla) and sons Damon (Tami), Daron (Shawna) and Dustin. Wilma also has seven great-grandchildren, Noelle, Nathan, Payton, Jordyn, Courtney, Hailey, and little Alex. She is survived by a sister Maxine Malone and a brother Verle "Joe" Burch (Kathie). She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Denzel Burch (infant) and Laverne Burch. Wilma was a dedicated wife and mother. Her family always came first and her support and love for Alex and their boys and their families was obvious as was their love for her. Wilma wished to especially thank grandsons Damon, Daron, and Dustin for their help and kindness these past several years. The family would like to thank Horizon Hospice and the staff at Little River Care Center namely Bekki, Wendy, Pat, RaeAnn, and Bruce. Wilma declined an official funeral, however there will be a celebration of her life at a graveside service at Chattaroy Cemetery (corner of Jim Hill Rd. and Cowgill) on Thursday, August 28, at 2:00 followed by a gathering at niece Pam's Cinola's Restaurant (14710 N. Newport Hwy). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alex Lungo Scholarship Fund at Riverside High School, Chattaroy, WA 99003. Condolences can be sent to [email protected]. Arrangements by Lauer Funeral Home of Deer Park.
