Sylvia May Bennett departed this life February 13, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

She was born November 3, 1921, in Macomb, Missouri, daughter of Jasper Fletcher and Cora Garrison Stewart.

On May 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Smith Bennett, and to this union 2 daughters and 1 son were born.

Except for the time she spent serving her country in the WACS, she lived her entire life in the Macomb and Mansfield communities,. She managed Olds Brothers Clothing Store, and was a cashier for Richard Brothers Grocery Store, both in Mansfield.

Sylvia was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her worship and fellowship with the church family. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #128.

In her spare time she loved sewing, making beautiful quilts, and greatly enjoyed embroidering.

Sylvia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she has created for her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Smith, on January 10, 2000; an infant son and daughter, Denny and Carlene; a granddaughter, Carla Ramsey; brothers, Henry, Ruben, Ernest, Raymond and Everett Stewart; and sisters, Edna Binley and Fern Smith.

Survived by a daughter, Theresa (Charlie) Ramsey; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ella Stewart; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held February 16, 2006, in the Corinth Baptist Church, Macomb. Burial will be in the Macomb Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be February 15, 2006 under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.

Memorial contributions to the Wright County Children's Home may be made through the funeral home.
