Effie E. Owen
Effie E. Owen, 95, Georgetown, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Guerin Woods in Georgetown.
Born Aug. 3, 1919, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edna Pearl Helms Langley.
She was a food server at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany and was a member of the Edwardettes Homemakers, the same bunco club for more than 50 years and Georgetown Christian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Owen Sr.; a son, Clifford Owen Jr.; and two daughters, Carolyn Bezy and Paula Neff.
Survivors include three sons, Fredrick L. Owen of Corydon, Chris Owen of Georgetown and Douglas Owen of Greenville; two daughters, Barbara Jean Bezy of Goodyear, Ariz., and Beverley Kelley of Georgetown; and more than 100 descendants.
Visitation: Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 21, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
Funeral: Thursday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Wolfe Cemetery near Georgetown.
Officiants: The Revs. Roy McClain and Roebin Tyler.
Pallbearers: Gilbert Bezy Jr., Taylor, Dakota and Alex Owen, Chris Owen Jr. and Wendell Kelley.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hosparus of Southern Indiana at 624 E. Market St. New Albany, IN 47150.
