Alice McKenzie Sweeney, age 85, of Kingston, TN passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Roane Medical Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 58 years where she was actively involved in many aspects of the church. She was a gifted vocalist, participating in several choirs and was a faithful leader in her Ladies Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed playing bridge, visiting in local assisted living and nursing homes and singing in the Roane Choral Society for many years.
Alice graduated from East Carolina University with a teaching degree. She was a gifted and devoted educator for over twenty-five years at Kingston Jr. High and Cherokee Middle School.
For those who knew Alice, she will be remembered as a woman of prayer and faith, knowing her Lord walked with her everyday. Alice’s love for her church, family and friends is well known.
She is preceded in death by her parents Murd and Sarah McKenzie, her sisters Oleta Spell, Bonnie Dixon, Edna Dickerson, Maggie Potter, Sallie Weeks, Betsy Abdalla and one brother, Murd Butler McKenzie.
Funeral 11am Tuesday October 6, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jody McLoud and Rev. Tommy Taylor officiating. Burial at Roane Memorial Gardens.
