Emily Nelson Gillikin passed away June 12 quietly at home with family by her side. She was born in Bridgeton, NC in 1930 to Clyde E and Thyra D Nelson. Emily was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She had much compassion in her heart for the less fortunate, and had the greatest appreciation for God's plants and animals, making sure that she passed those attributes on to her children. She spent much of her earlier years helping children and the elderly learn to read.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Charles L Gillikin Sr., son, William Larry Price, and sister, Frances N McCall.
Survivors include her sons, Charles L Gillikin Jr. (Cathy) of New Bern, Bruce D Gillikin of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; daughters, Nancy G Thompson (Andy) of Bonita Springs, FL and Frances P Gray (James) of Elkin, NC; and daughter-in-law, Mariya Price of New Bern; sisters, Maxine Pate, JoAnne Campbell, and Ruth Parker; grandchildren, Jason Gillikin, Daniel Gillikin, John Gillikin, Stuart Thompson, Karen Thompson, Anne Douglass, Katy Shook, Helena Price, and Kane Price.
