William P. 'Jeff' Jeffries, age 73, died Mon May 11, 2009 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, MS. He the son of the late R. Clarence 'Papa Jack' and Alice (Ellis) Jeffries. Mr. Jeffries lived in the Greenwood area most of his life and operated Automatic Transmission Service in Greenwood for 35 years. Prior to that he was employed at Vickers Plant in Jackson as a machinist for 17 years.
Mr.Jeffries loved to hunt. He was a long time member of the National Hot Rod Association and treasured his 1958 Corvette, named "U. S. MALE", and a 1967 Camaro, named "LITTLE STINKER". Jeff also supported stock car and dirt track racing.
Visitation will be Tues May 12, 4-7pm at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral Services will be Wed May 13, at 11am at Williams & Lord Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Moorhead Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Wilkinson, Nick Wilkinson, Preston Wilkinson, Jeff Johns, Jason Johns and Joe Alford. Honorary Pallbearer will be Lance Wilkinson.
