Jacob Lorey
—Jacob "Jake" Lorey, 77, of Edina, passed away Thursday (August 15, 1991) at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, while visiting his brother, Leslie Lorey.
—Born February 10, 1914 in Baring, he was the son of Oscar and Minnie Stutsman Lorey. On December 25, 1937 in Edina, he married Geraldine Doudna, who preceded him in death. To this union, three sons were born. On June 13, 1987, he married Gail Gooch of Edina, who survives.
—Also surviving are his three sons, Ronald J. Lorey and James Leslie, both of Gardena, California; and Billy Lee Lorey of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; one sister, Jeannette Vance of Edina; five grandsons and two granddaughters; several great grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew.
—He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gail Francis Lorey; two brothers, Edward F. Lorey and Lewis William Lorey; and one sister, Catherine M. Florence.
—He was reared and received his education in the Edina and Marceline communities. In the early 1940s, he moved his family to California. During World War II, he served three years with the United States Navy, spending much of that time overseas.
—He was a meat cutter by trade until his retirement in 1979. For the past several years, he resided in Edina.
—Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills, California.
