Ada attended Pomona College and began graduate studies at the University of Chicago where she met Leo Charles Quick. They had twins, Ted and Phyllis, and a daughter Sallie. Leo worked as an oil field manager, moving to Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Bakersfield. They were divorced in 1937. Ada taught school in Glendale, and later Upland, taking evening courses towards a Master’s degree at Claremont College. She met and married Charles Brisco, moving to Huntington Beach; both were teachers. Later they moved to Santa Ana and then Tustin.
