L. Andrew "Andy" McMains, 79 of South Bend, Ind., passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Fern, Ind., as the son of Alford and Cleo (Rollings) McMains and has lived in South Bend since 1968, coming from Knightsville, Ind.

On June 15, 1952, in Brazil, he married Alberta F. Kennedy. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years. He is also survived by a daughter and son-in -law, 4 grandchildren. A brother, of Greencastle, Ind., also survives, along with four nieces and nephews.

Andy was preceded in death by a brother, William, Perry McMains and a nephew.

He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company as a production manager following 41 years of service. Following retirement, he was employed with Haberly's Metal Fabrication and the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation. He was a member of Lakeville United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Knightsville Lodge 409, F. & AM, 50- year member of Order of Easter Star Chapter 238, Knightsville, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8, by members of Lakeville Lodge 353, F. & AM, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend.

Services will follow by Rev. Larry Dimick, pastor of Lakeville United Methodist Church.

Burial will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Calcutta Cemetery, Brazil. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
