Found in The State 29 December 1969: Mrs. Gilbert M. Berry, 74, 3212 Amherst Ave., died Sunday morning. Mrs. Berry, the former Katharine Elizabeth Fickling, was born in Charleston, daughter of the late Matthew Moore and Suzanne Douglas Fickling. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing, Charleston, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William A. (Elizabeth) Foran, and Ms. Walter T. (Berta) Livings, both of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. John E. (Suzanne) Thomas, Nashville, Tenn.; and a brother, Capt. E. E. Fickling, U. S. Navy, ret., Beaufort. Funeral services will be hat 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Dunbar Funeral Home on Gervais Street, conducted by the Rev. James Stirling, D. D. and the Rev. Scott May. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
