PRESTON -- Norman Christian Buhler, 89, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, in Logan.He was born June 27, 1913, in Bern, Idaho, the son of Christian and Mable Christina Kunz Buhler. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He married Helen Roberta Callis on Sept. 16, 1941, in Pocatello, Idaho. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1996.

He was an elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and especially enjoyed family reunions.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters, Ivan (Linda) Buhler, Worland, Wyo., Christine Costalez, Montpelier, Idaho, Douglas Buhler, Preston, Betty (Don) Eisel, Springfield, Ore., Roberta Fray, Springfield, Ore.; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Jay (Francis) Buhler, Filer, Idaho, Ellis (Leamae) Buhler, Stevensville, Mont., Barbara (Robert) Butler, Wenatchee, Wash., and Sandra Abrabanel, Las Cruces, N.M. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Nina Varner; a great-grandson, Garrett Bunn; and by his brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23, at noon at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, with Bishop Thane Goodrich conducting. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 at Webb Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., also at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Bern, Idaho, Cemetery.
