DEATH: CLARICE GLADE SLOAN BEAN
The funeral service for Clarice Glade Sloan Bean will be held at the LDS Church on South East 30th and Harrison, Portland, Oregon, at 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah 31 October 1905, to George and Mary Jane Watson Glade. She died 12 December 1993, at the age of 88. She graduated from Brigham Young College, Logan, Utah, and LDS Business College, Salt Lake City.
She married Donald Card Sloan 7 April 1927, and they moved to Portland, where Mr. Sloan became an investment broker; and both became active in civic affairs and Rose Festival and Rosarian events. Her husband died in 1979.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as both stake and ward Relief Society president for many years. Mrs. Bean received an award as a Woman of Achievement from the city and was active in Oregon Symphony Association, Monday, Musical Organization, and served on the board of the Oregon Heart Association.
She married Monte L. Bean of Seattle, Washington, and lived there until his death in 1982.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverlee Sloan Smith; her son, Donald Card Sloan, Jr. of Portland and her daughter, Jo Ann Sloan Rogers of Menlo Park, California. Her stepchildren, M. LaMonte Bean, Beverly Bean Smart, and Audrey Bean Nelson of Seattle; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to the Monte L. Bean Science Museum, Provo, Ut. or to the Oregon Historical Society.
