Robert Lee "Bob" Hawk, 54, of Frederick, Maryland,
passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, after a thirteen
year struggle with alcoholism.
He was the beloved father of Winter Hawk; and former
husband of Kendra Hagen Hawk.

Born on June 16, 1960, in Culver City, California, he was t
the son of the late Ronald Ficklan Yerger a
nd Roberta Hawk Yerger Morgan, and stepson of the
late Kenesaw M. Morgan
Bob's parents divorced when he was a baby
and he was raised by his single mother until
age ten when she married and Bob's stepfather
became the only father he ever knew.

Bob grew up in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, California.
The Pacific Ocean was his first playground.
He was an avid swimmer and surfer at a young age.
He was a born athlete.

Abused by a trusted caregiver when he was nine,
Bob discovered at an early age that alcohol numbed pain and
made life bearable. He was diagnosed with severe dyslexia
in Elementary School, but there were no follow
up programs or assistance through the school system.
Despite his emotional, personal and educational struggles,
Bob managed to stay in school and graduated
from Venice High in 1978.

Bob swam on his high school swim team and later on the
Santa Monica Community College swim team.
Bob's first job was in the locker room of the High School pool.
When he was old enough he passed the test to become a
lifeguard at the pool and later on the beach. Bob worked for the
City of Los Angeles as a lifeguard for several years.
He worked out daily, was an enthusiastic bicyclist and
participated in several triahalons. He was a vibrant, strong man.

Bob moved to Hawaii for a few years and enjoyed
living on the beach and surfing daily while building houses.
Bob was a talented builder and carpenter and a meticulous painter.
The years in Hawaii were some of the best in his life.
When he returned to Southern California he again worked
for the City of Los Angeles as a lifeguard before transferring
to the Sierra Mountains where he continued to work for the
city as a lifeguard and boat captain on Lake Crawley in Mammoth, California.
