Mr. Robert F. Abercrombie, Sr., age 91, of Douglasville, GA passed away Monday, August 18, 2014. A native of Douglas County, he was born May 28, 1923. Mr. Abercrombie was a 1940 graduate of Douglas County High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during WWII in the South Pacific. He served as Probate Judge in Douglas County for 32 years; was a member of the Douglasville Masonic Lodge #289; and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
Mr. Abercrombie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Abbie Mae Abercrombie; and his parents, Walter and Ida Birch Abercrombie.
He is survived by his sons, Bobby Abercrombie and wife Cathy of Mansfield, GA, and Jeff Abercrombie, of Douglasville, GA; daughters, Laura A. Bryant and Melinda Abercrombie, both of Douglasville, GA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Gene Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
