Aaron DeFreese, age 89 of Perry, passed away on Monday August 18, 2014 at Okemos Health and Rehab.

Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home in Perry on Saturday August 23, 2014 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Perry. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday 6-8 pm and on Friday 2-4 & 6-8 pm.

Aaron was born in Gaines, MI on June 21, 1925, the son of John & Elizabeth (Yerian) DeFreese. He graduated from Perry High School in 1943 and joined the army in 1944, serving in WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze battle star. Aaron worked for General Motors for 30 years and for Wolverine Hybred for 20 years. He also farmed. He was a member and past commander of the Perry VFW Post 4063, Disabled American Vets, American Legion, Military Order of Cooties, Past commander of Shiawassee County Council, Lions Club, liked to collect baseball cards, watch baseball and travel.

Aaron is survived by his children; Alan DeFreese of Perry, Claudia Parks of Flint, Aaron (Atala) DeFreese of Mexico, and Verna (Steve) Grosso of FL, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sister Margaret VanAlstine of Williamston.
