Denmark -- Ernest M Byrd, 69, of Denmark died Friday in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral will be Sunday at 3 pm from the First Baptist Church of Denmark. Burial will be in Ghents Branch Cemetery, directed by Smalls Funeral Home.
He was born Dec 8, 1900, in Branchville, a son of the late Andrew Byrd and Anna Metts Byrd. He was a retired employee of Holly Hill Lumber Company.
Surviving are: four sons, Monroe Byrd of Tampa, Gilbert Byrd of Aiken, Maurice Byrd of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Mrs W D Brown of Fitzgerald, Georgia; four sisters, Mrs Wilbur Steedly of Branchville, Mrs Aubrey Shuler of Orangeburg, Mrs Rufus Metts of Branchville, Mrs Boyce Hungerpillar of Orangeburg; three brothers, Benjamin Byrd of Savannah, Heyward Byrd of Charleston, Cecil Byrd of Branchville; 17 grandchildren.
