Son of John Alexander Bivens and his second wife Nancy Roettna Lamar Bivens.

(Note: John married his 1st wife's niece: Nancy Roettna Lamar Bivens was the daughter of Mary Lamiza Martin Lamar (Davis) whose sister Nancy Rosoutha Martin Montgomery was John's 1st wife).

All of the aforementioned family members (except sister-in-law Mary) as well as Alfred's brother Virgil Cloe Bivens (and Virgil's wife Safrona Esther "Frona" Whitmire Bivens) and infant brother Claud C Bivens are buried alongside each other in Row 24 at Brashears Cemetery, Saint Paul, Madison Co., Arkansas.
