He was born in Johnston County to the late Curtis Hinton and Annie Wall Hinton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hinton was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Valton, Doyt, and Kenneth Hinton; and sisters, Omia Ellington and Edith Richardson.
Surviving: his wife, Margaret Honeycutt Hinton; sons, Eddie Hinton (Jill) of Zebulon, Bill Hinton (Maureen) of Wake Forest, Freddie Hinton (Martha) of Raleigh; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
