JAMES A. JIMMY DEAN, GREENSBORO JAMES A. JImmy" Dean died on Sunday, August 3, 2014, his 86th birthday, in the loving care of Catholic Hospice. He was born in Austinville, VA on August 3, 1928. In 1949 he married his wife Bertha Moretz Dean, who pre-deceased him in 2004. They had two daughters, Susan Dean Wessells, who died in 2013 and Kathy Lynn, who currently lives in Fort Lauderdale, FL.Jimmy served in the U.S. Navy from 1949-1953 and continued in the Naval Reserve for an additional 25 years. The majority of his civilian career was as a Magistrate with the North Carolina court system, in Greensboro, NC.Jimmy loved life and life loved him in return. He loved to sing, bowl, play card games and most of all he loved his family and friends.In addition to his daughter Kathy, Jimmy is survived by brothers John Jr. (Connie), Paul (Gail), Dewey (Ann), and sisters Mildred Privette, Barbara Andrews and Judy Fisher, brother-in-law Larry Moretz (Ellen) and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service and reception will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 333 Tarpon Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 on Wednesday, August 13 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral and burial will take place at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 2015 W. Market Street, Greensboro, NC on Friday, August 15 at 3 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue and Foster Program, P.O. Box 77393, Greensboro, NC 27417-7393.
