BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio - Harlow H. "Shem" Drown Jr., 61, of Bellenfontaine, formerly of Milford, Mass., and a former dairy farm owner, died Monday in his home.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Roberta "Bobbi" (Jackson) Drown; two sons, Mark Drown of Bellefontaine and Scott Drown of Sparta, Mich.; a daughter, Robin Pond of Woodstock, Conn.; a sister, Connie Blair of Wayland, Mass.; four grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was born in Milford, son of Harlow and Myrtle (Ballou) Drown. He graduated from Cornell University in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in Dairy Husbandry. He served in the Army from November 1957 to January 1960 as a Lieutenant 2nd Class.
Mr. Drown worked at the Logan County Engineering Department for the last 10 years. Previously, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Bellefontaine and Westminster, Md. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where he was the Chairman of the Administration Council, Brown Swiss Cattle Breeder's Association, Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Advisory Council 28.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Bellefontaine. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Tricare Hospice of Bellefontaine, Hopewell United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society. Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Highland Chapel, West Liberty, is directing arrangements.
