A. L. Bingaman, 74, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Barry, retired Adams County supervisor of assessments, died at 7:20 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 19, 1989) in Good Samaritan Home.
Mr. Bingaman was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Quincy, a son of Ira W. and Clara Ruppel Bingaman. He married Jessie A. Ruby Feb. 14, 1936, in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Bingaman was a supervisor of assessments in Adams County from 1967 until he retired in 1980. He was a member and elder of Akers Chapel ChristianChurch in Plainville, served on the Adams County Board where he also was on the Board of Review. He was town clerk and supervisor for Richfield Township, and served as director on the Adams Electrical Co-op in Camp Point.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Smith of Barry; one son, Dan D. Bingaman of Barry; five grandchildren, Mrs. Robert (Cathy) Cook of Plainville, Mrs. Steve (Shelly) Waterkotte of Payson, Brenda Bingaman of Quincy, Bradley C. Smith of Hull, and Dustin D. Bingaman of Barry; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Nena and Jordan Cook, of Plainville, Cody, Wyatt, and Jessi Lyn Waterkotte of Payson; three brothers, Aaron Bingaman of Glen Ellyn, Paul Bingaman of St. Charles, Mo., and James Bingaman of Rock Island; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Clara) Schneider of Easton, Md., Mrs. Robert (Dorcas) Wilson of Paris, Calif., and Dr. Constance Tucker of Rockford. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy by the Rev. James Poll. Burial will be in Payson New Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until the service.
Memorials may be made to Akers Chapel Christian Church.
