Married Ann Elizabeth Smiley on December 9, 1869. From The New Castle Record, dated Saturday, December 1, 1917: Fleming Bowyer Caldwell departed this life at Beckley, West Virginia, on Monday evening, November 26, 1917. Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons and four daughters-William A., Emmet E. and Frank, Allie, Sue, Alberta and Mary. Also three brothers and two sisters-J.W., H.L., and E.W., Amanda I. and Sallie J. His remains were laid to rest at Covington, Virginia, Wednesday afternoon of this week. Deceased was sixty-nine years old in October last. Peace to his ashes.

Stomach troubles and complications caused the death in this city on Monday night of F B Caldwell, at at the advanced age of seventy.
Mr Caldwell's family resides in Bristol, Tennessee, but he had been in this county for several months looking after business interests and was taken sick last Friday. His condition was more serious than thought to be and he passed away without his family being at his bedside.
Mr Caldwell formerly resided in Beckley with his family, and has two children here: Mrs R D Watts and Mrs P B Earwood. One son lives at Baltimore and three of the children are with the mother at Bristol.
The family was notified immediately of their loss. They all gathered at Covington, Va, where the funeral took place Wednesday.
