Emily E. Cogdill was born in Clay county, Missouri, March 26, 1837, and moved to Buchannan county when quite young. She united with the Christian church when 16 years of age and ever lived and earnest faithful member of the same. In 1853 she was united in marriage to Wm. Wilkerson. Eleven children were born to this union, seven of whom with the husband survive her. Iva Moberly, Maggie Hiatt and Otis Wilkerson of Bourbon county, J. H. Wilkerson of Circleville, Sally Richardson, W. H. and Charlie Wilkerson of Colorado. They moved to Jackson county in 1879 where they resided for about 30 years moving to Bourbon county in June, 1908, where her death occurred at the home of her son, Otis Wilkerson, Nov. 8th .... the body was laid to rest in the Circleville cemetery.
