Brice Lyndell Curlee, 91, of Albemarle passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

His funeral will be 11 AM Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Laws and Rev. Dr. Wayne Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park with graveside rites conducted by the Stanly Masonic Lodge #348, the Albemarle Fire Department and the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM.

Born July 6, 1923 in Stanly County, he was the son of the late James Oliver Curlee and Margaret Maggie Morton Curlee.

He was a retired Fire Engineer with the Albemarle Fire Department with 25 years of service. He was also a charter member of South Albemarle Baptist Church, the Stanly Masonic Lodge #348 for over 60 years and was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII.

His wife, Lorene Carpenter Curlee, preceded him in death April 26, 2010. A daughter, Varenna Lorene Curlee also preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Curlee Stoker and husband Mike of Albemarle, NC; two grandchildren: Chasity S. Schooley and husband Blake of Albemarle and Brian M. Stoker and wife Kristina of Statesville, NC; four great-grandchildren: Brianna Lynn Schooley, Brice Franklin Schooley, Andrew Brian Stoker and Noah Kristopher Stoker; he is also survived by a special friend, Joan Talbert of Albemarle, NC. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters whom he was the youngest of eleven children.
