Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, in October, 1861, and served "Honorably" as a "Private" in 11 Tex. Inf Company "A", "Spaight's Battalion", "Cavalry", C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was "Honorably" discharged from said Confederate service on the 5th day of May, 1865, by Commander Leon Smith
