He married Alice Barker June 5, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced. He married Cathern Lois Jones November 16, 1952. They were sealed at the Mesa, Arizona Temple. He is survived by his wife of Brinnon; a step-son, Clyde Leo Farrer of american Fork, Utah; two brothers and three sisters: Keith H. Houtz, Springville, Utah; Vince R. Houtz, Taylorsville, Utah; Mildred H. Bray, Bountiful, Utah; Marjorie H. Larsen, Mapleton, Utah; Vera H. Meriwether, Murray, Utah. a brother, Rex and a sister, Lois, preceded him in death.
