RETIRED RESTAURANT OWNER DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Charles Bryson, age 85, retired restaurant owner of 511 N. Walnut St., died Friday night at the Porter Rest Home, Knightsville, following a long illness.
Born in Rushville, Mr. Bryson came to Brazil in 1905. He operated the Gem Restaurant here for several years. In 1913, he, William Waillck and Si Simonson opened the Oak Restaurant and in 1917 Mr. Bryson and James Carpenter formed a partnership for the continued operation of the popular eating place which continued in business until 1940.
Mr. Bryson was active in Masonry and was a member of Centennial Lodge No. 541 F. & A.M.; Brazil Chapter No. 59, R.A.M.; Brazil Commandery No. 47, K.T. Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis and Zorah Shrine, Terre Haute.
Surviving are the wife, Ida Lehman Bryson; one daughter, Mrs. R.P. Shaffer of Kenmore, N.Y.; one son, Joe L. Bryson of Spartansburg, S.C.; three grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Miller & Sons Funeral Home and burial was in Cottage Hill Cemetery.
