Aberdeen - Mass of Christian Burial for Esta DeVine, 90, Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 Third Ave. S.E., with Father Edward Pierce officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Aberdeen, under the direction of Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, Aberdeen. Liturgical wake service will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary with visitation from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, and for one hour before the mass at the church on Monday. Esta passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at her home. Esta R. was born March 12, 1915, to Andrew and Marie Elizabeth (Pedersen) Nielsen in Badger, S.D. They moved to Lake City, S.D., where she attended school. She attended beauty school in Minneapolis, Minn., and became a cosmetologist. She returned to Lake City and later moved to Portland, Ore., where she worked in the ship yards during WW II. Esta married John Joseph DeVine Jan. 11, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minn. They made their home in Aberdeen where she raised her family. She was employed with Aberdeen Catholic Schools and worked at Roncalli High. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needle work, cooking, baking and gardening. She loved the time with her grandchildren and children. Esta is survived by her children, Sheila DeVine-Egan of Aberdeen, Monica (Robert) DeVine-Seaton of Warner, and John J. DeVine of Parker, Colo.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ebba DeVine of Britton, S.D., Olga (Ollie) Blaire of VanCouver, Wash., and Dagny (Jackie) Weitzel of Portland, Ore. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Robert Jr., one sister Jenny and three brothers, Einar, Axel and Milo. Pallbearers will be Chris Rothe, Tom Rothe, Myles DeVine, Brent Bingham, Jay Hornaman and Tim Hornaman. Vrinda Bingham and John DeVine will be the lectors. Kathy O'Brien will be the organist and the cantor is Debi Dusseault with special music by Robert Downie playing the trumpet and a solo by Jim Seaton.
