He was born January 11, 1889, in Monroe County, a son of John and Louise Christman Ackerman. He was married in 1915 to Elsie Hines and had four sons. Surviving are George, Walter, Edward, and Lester Ackerman, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Schwartz.
