Benjamin Philip Ackerman, 81, died Friday evening May 7, 1970, about 5:30 p.m. from injuries received when a tractor he was operating on his farm near Monroefield, Ohio overturned on him. He was born January 11, 1889, in Monroe County, a son of John and Louise Christman Ackerman. He was married in 1915 to Elsie Hines and had four sons. Surviving are George, Walter, Edward, and Lester Ackerman, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Schwartz. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Gardner Funeral Home at Woodsfield. Burial was in Middle Church cemetery near Lewisville, Ohio. Source: The Wheeling News, May 1970
