Frank Rufus Preston, 73, retired locomotive engineer and longtime Montpelier resident, died Tuesday in the St. Vincent’s Hospital, Portland, Oregon. Mr. Preston was born February 17, 1886 at Perry, Iowa.
He was married to Iva Floy Bedell on July 17, 1909. She died August 19, 1955. Mr. Preston moved from Montpelier after his retirement from the Union Pacific railroad on February 17, 1956. He later married again.
Surviving are one son, Ross Preston of Pleasant Hill, California, and two grandchildren; his widow, and brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Presbyterian Community Church. The remains may be viewed at the Matthews Mortuary Saturday until the time of services.
