Funeral services for James Luke Sloan,Sr.,45, were held at the graveside in Fairmont Cemetery on Monday afternoon, Dec. 23rd., with Rev. W.A.H. Flynt officiating. Interment followed with Lanier Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Sloan died in a Milledgeville Hospital Saturday, Dec. 21st Following an operation for acute appendicitis. He had been a resident of this county for a number of years being an employee of Sparta Equipment Co., at the time of his death and had many friends.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lucy Carr Sloan; five daughters Mrs. E.F. Yates, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Everette Alford, Mrs. Homer Johnson, Shirley Ann and Martha Sloan, all of Sparta. Three sons, James S. Sloan, J.L. Sloan,Jr., and Walter Sloan, all of Sparta.
