Tommie Jerry Griggs, age 73 entered into rest on Friday August 8, 2014.

He was born on June 5, 1941 in Newton Texas to Sidney Berry Griggs and Estelle Dickerson Griggs.

A 1960 graduate of Newton High School, he played sports and was active in the community. Jerry was an independent contractor and business owner of Modern Aerobics Treatment Systems for twenty years, as well as many other privately owned businesses.

He was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church of Beaumont, Texas, until his passing. In his earlier years, he was a member of the Newton First United Pentecostal Church, as well as a board member.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Sid Griggs and Estelle Griggs, brothers, Joe Griggs and Hughey Griggs, sisters, June Quarles, Verlene Heitman and Mary Alyce Adams.

Survivors include his daughter, Jana Dyer, his sons Rusty Griggs and his wife Rose, Kevin Griggs and his wife Kathy and Michael Griggs and his wife Kathy Kim, his grandchildren, Amber Stokes and Austin Stokes, Kevin Stokes and Lincoln Guzman and Jacob Guzman, great-grandchild, Wyatt Guzman, his brother, Barney Griggs and sisters, Dot Droddy and Annie Sue Adams, nieces;, nephews and many friends.

His hobbies were collecting coins, John Deer memorabilia and knives, visiting flea markets and garage sales; he loved family reunions, visiting the family camp and being involved with his church activities, playing his stringed instruments and telling stories from his childhood.
