Judith, now a young widow, after a time, remarried. Dr. Bruce died 1779, in the West Indies, on the Expedition to St. Lucia under General Grant. Of the children of this union only son Archibald Bruce lived to maturity.
Judith made her will in 1813. She made bequests to her son, John Van Rensselaer and to her grandchildren: Catherine Visscher, Glen Van Rensselaer, Cornelius Van Rensselaer, Jeremiah Van Rensselaer and John Van Rensselaer. Judith left two lots to her grandson Jeremiah, "being in the eighth ward of the city of New York known and distinguished in a certain map or chart of the farm where my father Nicholas Bayard Esquire at the time of his death was seized." She left the remained of her estate to her son Archibald Bruce. In the 1817 Codicil to her will, Judith states her grandson John Van Rensselaer is deceased.
