GERALD E. ROCKE, 75, was welcomed into God's loving arms on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014,
surrounded by his family. Born March 1, 1939, in Pekin, Ill., he was the son of the
Rev. Emanuel and Rosa Hochstet tler Rocke. He attended Purdue University and
graduated valedictorian of his class in the School of Engineering. He founded
Landmark Construction Company, Inc., where he designed and engineered 48 Pizza Huts
and four KFC restaurants for Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne, as well as various
subdivisions, apartments, office complexes, and the Sycamore Hills Golf Club. He was
a member of the American Society of Engineers and the Phi Eta Sigma, Chi Epsilon and
Tau Beta Pi national honorary societies. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed every day
of his life to the fullest. He attended First Missionary Church and The Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Sondra Rocke of Huntertown; son, Scott (Michele) Rocke
of Troy, Ohio; stepsons, Charles (Renee) Ray of Fort Wayne and Kirk Ray of
Nashville, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Darci Ackerman of Zionsville, Ind.; and 13
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn Rocke and Merle
Rocke; sisters, Lucille Warren and Alyce Cleveland. A memorial service celebrating
his life is from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at The Chapel, with gathering
time from 4 to 6 p.m. Arrangements by D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral
