Mr. Claude Smithson Swift, age 86 of Monroeville, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at USA Medical Center in Mobile. Mr. Swift was born in Atmore, Alabama on August 8, 2014 to John Byard Swift and Anna Mallette Swift. He attended Atmore High School, Marion Institute, Georgia Tech and Auburn University graduating with a degree in Forestry. Mr. Swift was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had been a resident of Monroeville since 1956. Mr. Swift was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Monroeville where he served as Senior Warden, a Sunday School teacher, Lay Reader and Lector. He was a member of the Alabama Forestry Board in Montgomery and the Rotary Club in Opelika. Mr. Swift, a forester, owned and operated a pulpwood, logging, and timber business for many years. He was an active member of Pilots for Christ and also volunteered with the RSVP Food Program.

Mr. Swift is survived by his wife, Patricia Haden Swift of Monroeville; his children, Anna Leigh Swift of Houston, TX, Claudia Swift of Monroeville, AL, Haden Swift(Tim) Tirey of Monroeville, AL, Kimball (Carol Patton) Swift of Mobile, AL, and Emily Swift( Gene) McKay of Kennesaw, GA; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church in Monroeville with Rev. Lauren Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 11th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church
