Mrs. Caroline Frances Fisher- Haugen of Bellingham passed away Sunday, May 12th, 2002, at St. Francis Extended Health Care Center in Bellingham. Born January 25, 1908, to Frederick and Fannie Sauer, in Bolgoni, Sask., Canada.

In 1919, she and her family moved to the U.S. and later became a U.S. citizen. She married Alva E. Fisher in 1926 and they had five children: Helen Louise, Betty Mae, Frederick B., Irene Maxine, and Eldon Leroy.

Her husband, Alva, preceded her in death in 1963. In 1965, she married Melvin Haugen he also preceded her in death in 1990.

Caroline was a member of the First Christian Church, the Ferndale Senior Center, North Bellingham Ladies Aid, Cheerio Garden Club and the North Bellingham Orthopedic Guild.

She enjoyed cooking & baking, and shared the delicious results with family & friends.

She crocheted many beautiful afghans for her family. She loved caring for her beautiful flower garden and sharing them with friends. She also enjoyed several years of creek fishing with her husband, Melvin, and playing pinochle. She loved all of her family and especially enjoyed celebrating birthdays & holidays with them. We are left with wonderful memories of her while placing her in God's loving arms.

Survivors include: children: Helen Wifler, Betty & husband Marlin Erickson, Frederick & wife Maryanne Fisher two stepchildren: Gloria & husband Elden Balzer, and Melvin & wife Doreen Haugen 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Also surviving: a brother, John Sauer two sisters: Emma Duranceau, and Eva Lillie and numerous nieces & nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, 557 Roy St., Lower level, Seattle, WA 98109 or First Christian Church, 495 E. Bakerview Rd., Bellingham, WA 98226. A visitation is scheduled for: Wed. May 15, 3:00 to 8:00PM at Ferndale-Moles Funeral Home, 2039 Main St., Ferndale.

A Graveside Service will be: Thurs. May 16, 1:00PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5977 Northwest Rd., Ferndale. The Memorial Service will be: Thurs. May 16, 2:30PM at First Christian Church, 495 E. Bakerview Rd., Bellingham. The Reverends: Gary Shoemaker and Debbie Little will officiate.
