SPRINGFIELD - Elmer W. Boesdorfer, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Pleasant Plains, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 26, 1920, in Chenoa, the son of George and Helena Renken Boesdorfer.

He married Doris Armintrout in 1947.

Mr. Boesdorfer served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

He retired from farming after 37 years. He also worked for Sangamon Valley FBFM and was a substitute bus driver.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains.

He served on the Pleasant Plains School Board for 15 years, on the Farm Bureau and FS boards and Richland Elevator Board. He was treasurer of Pleasant Plains Fire Protection District and past commander of Pleasant Plains American Legion Post 599.

Survivors: wife, Doris; three sons, Gary (wife, Sally) Boesdorfer of Plano, Texas, Allen (wife, Donna) Boesdorfer of Springfield and Robert (wife, Nancy) Boesdorfer of Danville; daughter, Marcia Mason of Bedford, Texas; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rolland (wife, Berneice) Boesdorfer and Roy (wife, Georgianne) Boesdorfer, both of Pleasant Plains, and Clarence (wife, Louise) Boesdorfer of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Zion Lutheran Church, Pleasant Plains, the Rev. Don Pritchard officiating.

Burial: Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
