Mr. Swan, a native of Jefferson County, had retired from the institutional food business and was owner and operator of Swan Food Sales. He was active in the establishment of Southeastern Food Distributor Associates and National Institutional Food Distributor Associates.
He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of Crusaders Sunday School Class and Baptist Men on Mission. He was a member of Acacia Lodge 315 Accepted and Free Masons, North Augusta. He was also a member of Adoniram Council 1 Royal and Select Masters and past illustrious master. Mr. Swan was a member of Georgia Commandery 1 Knights Templar and past eminent commander.
He was constituted a Knights of York Cross of Honor and a member of the Order of the Amarnth.
Survivors include his wife, Ozella Swan; a son, David L. Swan, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Nancy Swan Lowe, Hephzibah; a stepson, Jerry Bass, North Augusta; a stepdaughter, Jane Moxley, Augusta; two brothers, Horace Swan and John Swan, both of Wrens; three sisters, Madge Newsome, Atlanta, Irene Burton, Barney, and Nellie Noegel, Augusta; and 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and members of Crusaders Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
