Clyde Dale Smith, U. S. Army (Ret.), 79, and Bertie Walburga Schular Smith, 79, both of Guyton, Georgia died. Mr. Smith died on August 1, 2014 at Hospice Savannah and Mrs. Smith died on March 30, 2014 at Candler Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born in Bellflower, Missouri on November 6, 1934, to the late John Smith and Mary Ellen Harmon Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War and the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Smith served in the Civil Service for over twenty years at Fort Stewart where he later retired as the alcohol and drug abuse director.
Mrs. Smith was born on February 1, 1935, in Ravensburg, Germany to the late Scwartz Schular and the late Maria Fellenger Schular. She met her husband, Clyde, while in Stuttgart, Germany and they later married there. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and worked for Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics for over fourteen years for the Exchange at Fort Stewart.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2014, at the graveside, Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.Obituary has been edited to protect the privacy of the living per FaG Guidelines
