A farmer, he resided in Union Township, Union County, Pennsylvania from before 1830 until after 1850, and in Jackson Township, Snyder County, Pennsylvania by 1860, the latter across Penns Creek from New Berlin in Union County, Pennsylvania.
His will, dated 21 August 1857 (and probated on 27 May 1864), mentions his wife Susanna and his children Maria Long, Anna Swarm, Jacob Swarm, Catharine Kleckner, Isaac Swarm and Joseph Swarm.

Swarm, 1791 — 1869" on page 113 of her compilation Tombstone inscriptions of Union County, Pennsylvania (1967) under "Ray's Church Cemetery", no such markers were found in Saint Peter's Church Cemetery (also known as Ray's Church Cemetery) in July 2015.
Instead, a 1937 reading of gravestone inscriptions for New Berlin Cemetery lists complete inscriptions for this couple (while, notably, incorrectly replacing "Joseph" with "Jacob").
