Robert John Van Orman was the first born child of John Abraham and Eva Christensen Van Orman. He was born on February 27, 1938 in Flushing, Queens, New York. He was the light of their lives in the short year that he lived. His grandfather, John Van Orman, loved to sing to him and to see his endearing smile. He came to this world enveloped in Joy, and he radiated that to those around him. He is an exemplary spirit and he brought light into the world with his arrival. His mother always maintained that he was the "best baby", and so easy to raise. "Bob" remained the light in his mother's heart and the tear in her eye even up to her death at the age of 92.

Robert John never knew his siblings in this world. It is now believed that he died of Sudden Infant Death syndrome. He passed in his sleep on February 24, 1939 and was buried on his first birthday, February 27,1939, in the Flushing Cemetery, Queens, New York.
