Robert C. Brehm, 88, of St. Paul died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Randy Dilts will officiate. Masonic services will be presented by the St. Paul Masonic Lodge #82 AF & AM.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Bob was born December 5, 1925 near Cook, NE to Frank O. and Eda G. (Peters) Brehm.

He was raised on a farm near Cook. He attended rural school near Cook and graduated from Cook High School in 1943. As a teen, he worked for his older brother baling hay.

After graduation he worked on a farm for a short time before entering the U.S. Army on September 23, 1944. Bob served in the Army of Occupation in Korea as a Sargent Tech in the dispensary. This is where Bob became interested in the pharmacy field. He received his discharge on October 30, 1946.

He returned to Nebraska and attended Pharmacy College at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln under the GI bill.

Bob was united in marriage to Dorothy Boettner on August 1, 1948 in Bennet, NE.

The couple lived in Lincoln while Bob finished his degree. He graduated and received his Pharmacy license in 1950.

Bob and Dorothy moved to Broken Bow where they lived until 1953 when they moved to St. Paul. Bob purchased Dillard Drug in St. Paul in 1953 and continued to work until retiring in the mid 1990's.

After retiring Bob began woodworking and made many items for his family. Bob enjoyed bowling and golfing. He volunteered time at the Howard County Medical Center and was a blood donor.

Bob and Dorothy liked to go to their house in Colorado where Bob would fish and hike. They also enjoyed traveling, including trips overseas and taking car and bus trips to a number of places in the states.

Bob was a gentle, easy going man who loved to talk to people and never knew a stranger. He could start a conversation with anyone and visit about any topic.

Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church, Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119, Masonic Lodge #82 AF & AM, and the Lion's Club, all of St. Paul. Bob served as president on the St. Paul School Board and the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, served on the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department and was an original member of the St. Paul Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of St. Paul; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Marilyn Brehm of St. Paul and Tim and Amelia Brehm of Lincoln; a daughter and son-in-law, Lyn and Dennis Schmitz of St. Louis; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Joel and Maegan Brehm, Liz and Pepper Papineau, Annette and Evan Schwahn, Lisa Brehm, Scott, Kevin and Brian Schmitz; two great grandchildren, Logan Brehm and Ayla Schwahn; one sister, Delores Flake of Nebraska City and a sister-in-law, Gladys Brehm of Tecumseh.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mike; one brother, Willard Brehm and a sister, Carole Bremer.
