JOSEPH E. STOLTMAN

Joseph E. Stoltman, 78, Route 5, died Tuesday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.

He was born in Walsh County, N.D., on Jan 6, 1908.

He and Katherine Hentz were married in Seattle on Oct. 14, 1938. They came to the Kittitas Valley in 1945 and had lived and ranched at the present location for the past 34 years.

Mr. Stoltman was employed on a number of the larger ranches in the valley and also worked at Rathbun Implement Co.

He was a member of the Kittitas County Cattlemen's Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine, of Ellensburg; three sons, Joe Stoltman, of Kalamazoo, Mich., John Stoltman, of Clarksdale, Miss., and Arthur Stoltman, of Ellensburg; five stepchildren, Harold Stevenson, of Coupeville, Wash., Peter Stevenson, of Monterey, Calif., Patricia Martin, of Tucson, Ariz., June Wristen, of Bellevue, and Kitty Andreas, of Yakima; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Max and Walter Stoltman, both of Argyle, Minn., and two sisters, Eva Schuester, of Grafton, N.D., and Wally Swank, of San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cotton Chapel. The Rev. Greg Zimmer will officiate and burial will follow at High Valley Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to life support systems, in care of the Ellensburg Fire Department, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
