Robert Newman Boykin , Sr., 83, husband of Lottie DuRant Boykin , died Saturday, August 20, 2005, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Dalzell, he was the son of the late Joseph William Boykin and the late Almeta Segars Boykin .
Mr. Boykin was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he served as former Treasurer for many years. He was a 1939 graduate of Sumter High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He was a former member of the Sumter Rotary Club and the Columbia Rotary Club. He was a member of Sunset Country Club and he retired from Thomas & Howard Company as a Comptroller with 35 years of service. Currently, he was a consultant for the Glasscock Company. He was a U.S. Air Corps veteran.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph William Boykin , Burrell Segars Boykin , and John King Boykin ; and a sister, Sarah Evelyn Smith.
