Mrs. Abbie May Roundy, 90, of 12 Smith street, died Thursday, May 3 in Mary Alley Hospital following a brief illness.

She was the widow of Chester E. Roundy.

A lifelong resident of Marblehead, she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Mary Emma (Swasey) Chapman.

Together with her late husband she operated and owned Abby May's Candy and Ice Cream Shop in Marblehead from 1922 to 1960.

She was a life member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Marblehead, a charter member of the Marblehead Women's Club, a member of New Dorcas Society of the Unitarian Church and a member of the board of directors of the Marblehead Visiting Nurse Association.

She is survived by a son, C. Ellis [sic] Roundy of Marblehead, athletic director of Ipswich public schools; three grandsons, Eric J., Samuel E. and Thomas C. Roundy, all of Marblehead; a great-granddaughter and three nieces, Mrs. Helen Johnson of Marblehead, Mrs. Ruth Hugny of Concord, N.H. and Mrs. Elizabeth Gowell of Swampscott.

Memorial funeral services were held in the Unitarian Universalist Church.
