PURDUM - Harvey Virgil Purdum, age 68, passed away November 10, 2011, at Trillium Woods in Byron Center. He was born April 25, 1943, in Kennan, Wisconsin, the son of Wilbur and Beryl (Funk) Purdum. Harvey was a 1961 graduate of Thornapple-Kellogg High School. He worked as a tooling engineer and most recently worked at Great Lakes Die Cast. On April 25, 1964, Harvey married Gloria Carrion. Harvey enjoyed being outside and spent many days on the golf course or on the lake fishing. When he had to be inside he liked to go to the casinos or watch a NASCAR race. Harvey loved to bowl and he and Gloria were founders of the Michigan Bowlers Tour. In the last few years he was fond of watching his granddaughters bowl. His grandchildren were his passion and he spent every moment with them that he could. Harvey is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children, Harvey and Christy Purdum, Jeffrey and Cass Purdum, and A.J. and Patty Purdum; his grandchildren; and one great granddaughter; brothers and sisters, Charles and Gladys Purdum, Bonnie and Dick Heizler, Phyllis and Allen Peters; and several nieces and nephews. He went to join in Heaven his parents and his brothers, Samuel, Wilbur, Fred, and Marlette Purdum. Visitation will take place on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home in Middleville. A funeral service will be conducted, Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
