Sarah was the great-grandaughter of a Baptist preacher, George Eaton who emigrated with his wife, Catherine Tussa from England many years before the Revolutionary War. She was baptized Sunday November 22, 1802 at Eaton's Baptist Church. "The Cranfill Family" by J.B. Cranfill, M.D., published by Arrow Press, 1938. PAGE 3.

Sarah Eaton married Thomas Cranfill about 1797, and they had seven children
1)Catherine, who died at age two, b. 1798.
2)Jonathon, born 1800 in Rowan County, N.C.; emigrated to Kentucky, where he died in 1860;
3)George Eaton Cranfill, born in N.C., Rowan Co., NC in 1802 who went to Texas about 1850 and died there in 1867 (Cranfill's Gap was named for him.)
4)Martha, died in Tennessee at age 22 in 1827
5)Isom was born in Rowan Co., N.C. Nov 27, 1807. Traveled the Oregon Trail. Died in Oregon, 1877.
6)Juniah, died when 16 days old in 1813
7)Zacheus born Bet. 1811 - 1813, in Huntsville, Rowan Co, NC, lived in IL; went to Texas, and died at Calloway, Upshur Co., TX Dec 23, 1870.
